Manitoba twisters raise warning of harsher climate
A meteorologist from Environment Canada warns last week’s tornado activity across Manitoba signals increasing twister frequency due to global warming. Studies forecast the Prairies will see the second greatest climate change after the Arctic with temperatures rising three to five degrees this century. Ten twisters were reported from Brookdale to Elm Creek and surrounding areas, prompting fire departments to standby for touchdowns. No injuries occurred and damage was minimal though some crops were flattened.
