Cardinals Triumph Over Neepawa Cubs In Two Sunday Games

The Angusville Cardinals defeated the Neepawa Cubs 19-3 and 10-2 after a 10-3 loss Friday. Stan Furman dominated both games with strong pitching, supported by Tony Kalechyn in the first game. Cubs used four pitchers in the Sunday opener, while Furman scattered eight hits in game two as 15 cars of fans followed the team.

Hospital Extension Opening Held July 18

Official opening of the new addition and renovations at the Rossburn District Hospital took place Thursday afternoon July 18. Wally Perchaluk chaired the ceremony with greetings from May or John Cormack Reeve John Mitchell and other dignitaries including M.P. Craig Stewart and Premier Walter Weir. A Certificate of Merit was presented to Bert Mitchell, accepted by his son John, and a ribbon cutting followed by a hospital tour and tea hosted by the Hospital Auxiliary.

United Church Women Meet In July Gathering

The Vista UCW met at Mrs Andrew Belinky home for July with ten ladies present. President Mrs Baker chaired. Ethel Brown and Dorothy Chegwin led devotional. Dorothy read scripture. They continued readings from Japanese Profiles and discussed donations to Gimli Fresh Air Camp and Clear Lake Coffee House.

Crookshanks Visit Spans Red Deer Bashaw Trips

Mrs. Marion Crookshanks returned home on Friday after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Crookshanks and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Crookshanks at Red Deer and Bashaw Alberta. A Detroit family led by Mr. Mike Koroscil visited Nick Stupinsky and Nick Chopp and relatives before heading to Winnipeg. Leeanne Butler was a Brandon Hospital patient for two weeks and was brought home by her aunt Elizabeth Fowler.

Beef and Dairy Club Hold Achievement Day

The Rossburn 4H Beef and Dairy Club held their Achievement Day on July 9. Foster Armstrong won the Beef championship with Grant Armstrong as Reserve. Morgan Taylor earned Red Ribbon calf. In the Dairy Club Jamieth Johnston claimed Champion with Russell Andrew as Reserve. The Red Ribbon calves included Murray Swereda Norma Andrew Norman Andrew Eugene Swereda and Linda Swereda.

Family Reunion Marks Joyful Day at Charney Home

A Happy Reunion Day was held July 15 at Mrs. Julia Charney's home after a High Mass in the Ukrainian Catholic Church in memory of deceased relatives. Attendees included Kost, Procyk, Charney families from Fort William Ontario and Rossburn, plus relatives from Oakburn Thompson Sandy Lake Detroit and more.

The regular monthly meeting of the Council of the R M Rossburn was moved from August 13 1968 to Wednesday August 21 at 8 00 pm due to the secretary treasurer holidays The Municipal Office will close from August 2 to August 19 for the holiday period R M of Rossburn and Village of Rossburn

Rossburn United Church Women Meet in July Annex

The Rossburn UCW held its July meeting in the church annex with fourteen ladies attending. Devotionals led by Mrs. H. Alexander and Mrs. S. Veitch focused on Take My Hand, followed by prayers and business chaired by President Mrs. Johnston.
