He is 21 years old.
Promotion of Private Frank M Steel of Vista to Lance Corporal is announced. Private Arthur I. Bowley of Bin Earth is qualified as a driver of wheeled Army vehicles after completing a driving and maintenance course with the Active Army.

Miss Carry Gallant wed Peter Pradinuk at the Greek Catholic Church in Oakburn on Sunday July 18. Rev S H Swede officiated. The bride wore a floor length gown and bouquet of roses, attended by Pauline Mazz and Metro Derkatch. Receptions followed at both families homes with many friends in attendance.
Indians from nearby areas gather at Waywayseecappo Reservation for the annual sports and dances. Thursday featured dancing contests boxing, waltzing, and an old folks dance as white attendees contributed to War Savings Certificates totaling 35 dollars with most funds raised toward support for the Royal Canadian Navy and other wartime causes.
A small ceremony at the Crookshanks home united Margaret Alice Crookshanks and Private Harry Shoemaker of Vense Saskatchewan with Rev. L Parsons officiating. Mrs Parsons served as pianist and a cold chicken lunch followed for close friends and relatives.
A July 12 Angusville gathering drew lively attendance with Schaans and Fergusons celebrating. Mrs. Frank Angus returned to Russell on Friday after visiting friends. several locals, including Misses Louise and Hazel Dut chak and Margaret and Mary Poliak, journeyed to Winnipeg for short visits. James Walker recently enlisted in the RAF and left for Winnipeg. Cpl Scotty Ferguson and family visited relatives. A farewell surprise honored Mr and Mrs A Sehaan and Wilma. reunions and visits among local families were also noted.
Local notes report visitors and guests in Rossburn including G Spearman Hamiota and L Wingert with Laverne, Wayne McIntosh from Winnipeg, Brucie McDonald from Wog, and others. Attendees include military personnel from RCAF Brandon and Camp Shilo, plus area families visiting Clear Lake Inwood Roblin Mayfield and Winnipeg. Special Pentecostal Assembly services run July 25 to August 5 with Evangelist T L Thompson and Rev B Parkinson. a 10 day vocational school is set for July 26 to August 6. A Violet Peden bridal shower featured green and white decor and a 14 piece gift, with 63 guests.
