Oakburn Game and Fish Association thanks all who attended and aided in the July 3 Fish Derby and Sports Day. Derby winners include Pickeral Neil Buchanan Shoal Lake and Matt Bilanka Rossburn. Pike winners Barry Mitchell Winnipeg and Matt Bilanka Rossburn. Baseball tournament won by Sandy Lake with Strathclair second. Raffle prizes included a mounted wild mink to Darlene Lucyshen, a mounted pheasant to Irene Kaminsky, and a mounted pickerel to Wm. J. Shwaluk.

Angusville Cardinals Sweep MSBL Action With Two Wins
After a 17-7 loss to Hamiota, the Angusville Cardinals won two MSBL games last week. They beat Binscorth 10-4 with pitching by Bob Chuchmuch and Pat McGehee, as Rod Einarson took the loss for Binscorth. Angusville piled up three second inning runs and four more in the third. Lynn Chuchmuch, Jim Flynn, McGehee and Mark Haley had two hits each. They then edged Binscorth 10th-inning win on a Pat McGehee RBI single after McGehee finished the game. McGehee relieved Chuchmuch in the fourth. Bob Mazur, Bill Flynn, McGehee, Lorne Gallant, Glen Katchin and Barry Wowk each added two singles.

The Birdtail Women’s Institute met in July at Evangeline Ku zenko’s home with seven members and three visitors from England British Columbia and Alberta. The roll call the creed minutes and treasurer’s report were read a tea for a district newcomer was held a picnic at Rossman Lake Youth Camp and a jackpot drawn by Jean Hunter from England won by Jimmie Saley. Next meeting set for August 4 at Olga Deydey’s home at 2 p.m.

Homecoming 77 Leaders Angusville Weekend Celebrations
Angusville held a vibrant Homecoming 77 with large crowds and varied events. The weekend featured an 9-8 extra inning win by the Cardinals over McAuley, a Teen Dance, Midget Ball Tournament results, and the official opening of Angusville’s new baseball park with a 20 000 simulated cheque presentation and ribbon cutting. Grandview beat Angusville 5-3 in MSBL play, while Hamiota defeated Binscarth 14-6. the final was rained out.
