Rossburn Minor Hockey joins Beatrice Top Team Awards drive
The Rossburn Minor Hockey Association participates in Beatrice Top Team Awards collecting UPC symbols from Modern Dairies and Beatrice brand products such as milk cream sour cream and yogurt. Each code nets the organization half a cent with a possible bonus for top contributors. Collection boxes are at the Toronto Dominion Bank and the Rossburn village office. Monthly totals are reported through February 1986.

Pensions rise in July under OAS GIS and spouse programs
In July federal Old Age Security pensions and supplements increase to align with the cost of living. OAS rises to 280.14 monthly for July to September, GIS maxima for singles and married couples grow to 332.93 and 216.83 respectively, and Spouse's Allowance amounts climb to 496.97 for 60–65 spouses and 548.67 for widowed recipients. Low income widows and widowers aged 60 to 64 may apply in mid July for new benefits starting September after amendments extending the Spouse's Allowance to near elderly widowed persons.

Manitoba farmers save dollars through Veterinary Services Program
Dr. Jack McPhedran reports the Manitoba Veterinary Services Program has saved farmers between 125 and 250 million dollars over 1974 to 1984. The program, started in 1970, operates 30 districts and provides free advisory service. In South East district 807,962 animals valued at 162.3 million were treated, with municipal grants totaling 98 thousand.
