Fish Derby at Rossman Lake Yields Whoppers in Pickerel and More
A successful Fish Derby and Fun Day at Rossman Lake on June 29 featured several large catches in the pickerel, pike, and perch categories. Top trophies from the Bill Chomica Memorial went to Allan Lindenbach for pickerel, Cyril Gill for pike, and Doug Ward for perch, with multiple runners up. Four slo-pitch teams competed, Fireballs and Magnificent 10 winning A and B finals, respectively, while kids’ games entertained attendees. Weather cooperated and organizers plan a repeat event next year.

Manitoba moves forward on assessment reform plan
Manitoba's Municipal Affairs Minister John Bucklaschuk announced progress on assessment reform. He cited a computerized needs analysis, system design, a Portage la Prairie pilot, a province wide manual, and uniform guidelines for property assessment. Nine property classes will guide portions of value, with grants and urban transit funding rising while Main Street Manitoba is replaced.
