Willis Stitt and sisters return to Winnipeg after holidays at Banff and Cranbrook with family. Many neighbors visit relatives in Portage, Brandon, Shoal Lake, Rossburn, and Winnipeg. A Vista Community Picnic is planned for July 12 at J Lillis pasture and church services resume at Vista United Church.
A summer night in a smoky low ceiling room centers on Roy and Ken bragging of a monster fish catch. The tale grows wilder with each puff of tobacco and drink as the storytellers weave improbable weights and gear, ending with a toast to the spinners of tall yarns.
The forty third Rossburn Agricultural Society exhibition tops the year with larger horse and poultry showcases after cattle sheep and swine displays were cancelled. Neepawa Band and The Kansas Farmer provide entertainment, four invited baseball teams contest $200 in prizes, and total race prizes reach $400. Meetings and entries close with notices from secretary O Hodge and R Carson.
Ramona Lindsay wed Clayte Chas. Swanson of Treherne in a June 30 ceremony at the Lindsay home officiated by Rev. J. Ray Anderson. The bride wore nylon white and a three quarter veil, with an orchid. bridesmaid Sheila Lindsay wore dusty rose. Attendants included James Swanson and a large list of out of town guests from Rose Valley Winnipeg Cartwright and Reston. The couple planned a southern honeymoon after a large reception.

Canadian Pacific Railway introduces the first diesel engines in the Rockies replacing steam locomotives. Two of 48 new units are shown near Lake Louise as passenger trains operate between Revelstoke and Calgary. The five year plan will dieselize both passenger and freight runs with 18 more engines arriving before fall.
William Mitchell was admitted to Rossburn Hospital on Tuesday evening after being crushed by a bull on his farm. Details are unavailable at press time but reports indicate he is not seriously injured.
The annual Indian Sports is held this week on July 9 and 10 featuring Horse Races Foot Races Platform Attractions including Jigs and Singing Contests. No admission charge and everybody is welcome.
A meeting of the Directors and Executive of the Rossburn Agricultural Society will be held in the Clubroom on Friday July 11 at 8 30 p m. Important business.
Low rail fares announced for the Saskatoon Industrial Exhibition July 21 to 26 by R H Powers. Single fare and half round trip on sale July 19 to 25 from Manitoba Saskatchewan and Alberta stations. Return by July 28 or first available train if July 28 service is cut.
