Debentures of 100 500 and 1000 dollars will be issued at 4 percent interest with principal and interest repayable over two years. Applications received by July 1 and directed to the Shoal Lake Hospital District Board members Bert Mitchell J G Stitt and Wm Hyra.
Plans are underway for the 40th Annus Exhibition on July 26 with livestock judging at 11 am and a livestock parade at 5 pm. Horse races start at 4 pm including chariot and pony events, three baseball games at 1:30, 3:30 and 6:30 pm featuring Solsgirth Binscarth Russell and Rossburn, plus an E. J. Casey Midway and a town hall dance to D McIntyre’s orchestra.
Funeral service held for Mrs. Jane MacKenzie 54 of 147 River Avenue who died Friday in Victoria hospital. Born in July in the United Church she leaves her husband Donald a son Ab Sister and daughters Mrs E Wilcox and Viela at home plus sisters Mrs Christina French and Mrs Joe-Anne MacKenzie and four brothers Hector Charles York and others. Rev J Y Garrett conducted the service with pallbearers C A Menzies O McFeeters H Alexander A Duncanson Clair Palmer and Bert Palmer. Interment in Rossburn cemetery.
Betty Saley 4-year-old catches a jack fish 21% inches long using a crude pole, binder twine line, bent nail hook, and a piece of brown paper as bait. Bobbie crafts the pole from a straw stack, making a playful, home made fishing tale with family help.
Rossburn Agricultural Society sponsored a field day at Bert Mitchell’s farm on June 30 with about thirty youths plus older boys seeking cattle judging tips. Fletcher from Shoal Lake instructed on judging points and showmanship, while Don Stitt earned the highest judging points. The next day Mitchell took John Williamson Paul Ukrainetz and John Mitchell to Hamilton for more cattle judging experience.
Displaced Europeans arriving in Manitoba settle in beet growing areas around Winnipeg. Families live on individual farms while single men stay in summer camps. Some relatives are brought to reunite families and supervision remains constant to ensure comfort and happiness.
In loving memory of Mr Wm Young who passed away July 7 1938 at age 85. As long as we live we will cherish his name. Deep in our hearts he is living yet. Ever remembered by his wife C Young daughter Lill and grandchildren Bill and Iris Johnson.
Mrs S Brown and baby return home from Sheal Lake Hospital. Local trips include York ton sports, Winnipeg visits, and travels to B C. A T B Ex Ray Clinic is set for July 15 in Vista Hall from 730 to 930 PM. Summer vacation begins for the school and staff, with pupils enjoying year end activities at Clear Lake.
