Weekend Weather Brings Light Showers Then Strong Winds
The Dominion Day weekend started sunny with summer weather. Sunday afternoon showers followed by Monday's strong southwest winds caused broken trees and roof and TV antenna damage. Winds then eased bringing relief.
Fourth Street paving project begins in Rossburn
Excavation and back filling are underway on Fourth Street as the Rossburn paving improvement project starts. Water connections have been installed to avoid future street cuts for water and sewer hookups to private properties. Continued on Page Five.

Manitoba Parks Opens Asessippi July Weekend Opening
Asessippi Provincial Park near Russell unveils its water based Lake of the Prairies with a July 7 8 opening weekend. The program includes a two day fishing derby outdoor church service water safety demos and an official dedication by government and local leaders. Activities also feature a beef barbecue horseshoe demos boat and airplane rides and a park-wide dedication by the ministerial association with R.C.M.P. flag raising and local band performances.

Parkland Regional Council agrees to pursue a regional air service network with new and upgraded airstrips in 17 municipalities. Grants up to 3500 dollars per strip plus operating cost aid could fund commissions, ambulance use, air taxis, training, tours, and intra regional travel. Communities such as Dauphin Swan River Russell already meet MOt standards but lack commissions.
