Prairie editors weigh Canada unity and western independence
The column reflects western Canadian reaction to Ottawa’s Quebec separation rules. Editors from Melfort, The Pas, Weyburn and others question federal tax policy, argue Ottawa should redirect funds to the provinces, and urge Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta and B.C. to craft own solutions while preserving Canada. Fred McGuinness writes from near Brandon.
