Federal programs boost student summer jobs in Canada
The government announces Student Summer Job Action 2001 to help youth find summer work. SSJA funds employers who hire students, lends start up capital for student ventures, creates summer employment offices, and targets over 50 000 students to gain work experience through SCP with a March 30 wage subsidy deadline.

Manitoba to Pass Full RHE Relief to EIA Participants
Manitoba will exempt the one time Relief for Heating Expenses payment from income calculations for all Employment and Income Assistance participants. Tim Sale says the full payment will reach Manitobans on social assistance. The RHE targets GST credit filers for January 2001 with payments of 250 dollars for couples and single parents, and 125 dollars for single individuals without children.
