OLHA Miss Anne Daistransky returns to Mohyla 8.D to begin teaching Jane 2th. Mr Armstrong of Leech Tower travels through Olha en route to Rossburn on business. Miss Hawryiiuk with sister Olin return from Roblin and resume teaching. Mike and Matt Swereda and Dick Jumigo go back to Kenora Ontario after a brief visit with parents.
Alec Cieland operates a saw mill full swing in Mears aiming to cut about two hundred thousand feet of lumber. All logs to be cleared from the park by February 1. Residents Matt Gavchuk returns from Sudbury, plus Mr and Mrs Tom Dychakowski and Mr and Mrs Peter Stokolos attend local events. Roads open for cars from Mears to the highway. John Kawka departs for Winnipeg to attend a school Trustee Convention on January 21.

January Red Cross meeting at Mrs T Sinclair’s with 24 members. two cushions raffled by Mrs W Maxwell Bowcott and by Mrs Sam Crookshanks, won by Mrs Caldwell. Eight dollars fifty cents raised for Soldiers’ Aid.

An Agricultural Society gathering at Hotel Douglas on Friday January 16 celebrated W. T. McDonald who, with his family, will move to Winnipeg. He served 15 years as Secretary Treasurer and aided the Fair’s success. Alex Sinclair praised his dedication. The McDonalds received an Electric Table as thanks. Mrs R Peden, longtime director, also praised. The event closed with a shared lunch and singing.
Sales of farm implements and equipment in Canada in 1940 totalled 47 595 154 dollars, up 40 percent from 1939, marking a strong year for agricultural supply.
