Don Roy of the Rossburn Seniors Housing Committee reported on housing needs and the low interest in life leases. The committee explores trailer and row housing, while costs outpace expressed needs. Also discussed: tax arrears, by laws, reserve funds, and 1997 tax sale date set for December 8.
Manitoba Public Insurance says cold temperatures and high winds cause many collisions and backlog. Manager Jim Kingdon notes Autopac Line remains open but claimants face a week wait to see an adjustor or estimator. MPI handled 15,000 calls Jan 6 10, up from 12,000, with new claims calls 30 percent higher than normal.
