Rural Council Appoints Officers For 1964
The Rural Municipality of Rossburn held its inaugural meeting January 3 1964 with all members present. New councillors Mike Gantylyk and Joe Dnistransky took oaths, Reeve Cleland presided, and By Law 881 appointing officers for 1964 was read and passed. The council also approved a petition from Chmelnvcki School District 1494 to dissolve and transfer its lands.

A $300 barn sale on Lot 2 Plan 555 was agreed with purchaser to move by May 1 1964. A village office and phone were approved. Vernon Hamilton hired as skating rink caretaker at 110 per month starting December 1 1963. List of officers and committees established for 1964. Bills approved. adjournment set for January 21 1964.

A province wide railway branch line association is being organized in Manitoba with Mr Remi De Pape acting as pro tem president. A meeting of local presidents is planned later in winter to elect permanent officers. H E Wood will run the provincial office from Winnipeg and contact points are provided. The group aims to voice local concerns on branch line abandonments and push for cooperative research on the true costs to farmers towns and the province. Manitoba Pool Elevators President W J Parker offered office space and may support detailed research.
