Maureen Hemphill Minister of Education will visit Pelly Trail School Division in the first week of March. She arrives March 4 at Rossburn Collegiate for a staff luncheon and talk to students, then tours Rossburn Elementary with a later tea for the public.
The Rossburn Village Council met February 11 at 7 30 P M with Mayor Kurchaba and most councillors present. Delegations were authorized for the February 14 budget talks with Pelly Trail School Division. Discussions covered water rates 3 80 per thousand gallons 1986 87 and a new well project costing 11 816 10. Board of Revision dates were set for April 2 1986 and October 16 1986. A 1 500 donation from the Rossburn Centennial Committee toward the skating arena was acknowledged. The council will seek two Challenge 86 summer employment positions and debated Parkland Regional Development Corporation membership. Consideration of relocating the Boychuk Museum was discussed along with a possible French flying unit nearby. Regular meetings will occur on the second Tuesday and fourth Wednesday each month.
Manitoba Theatre Centre tour of Ted Johns comedy Garrison's Garage travels through 32 communities in Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. Rossburn hosts a 7:30 PM Friday March 14 performance at the town hall, sponsored by the Rossburn and District Arts Council with Royal Bank of Canada support. Admission is 4.50 adults, 3.50 seniors and students. Tickets are available from local Arts Council members.
Rossburn Lions Club announces a February Winter Festival with a Festival Queen contest featuring Janelle McFeeters from Rossburn Figure Skating Club and Deanie Kostesky from the Agricultural Society. McFeeters attends Rossburn Elementary Grade 8 and participates in 4-H clubs and skating. Kostesky, a Rossburn native, trained at Assiniboine Community College and runs B K s Cut Curl in Rossburn.
