The Swan River Bengals won the gold medal in the Winter Games basketball tournament with Dauphin taking silver and the Dauphin Masters earning bronze. The 1992 Parkland Winter Games conclude with badminton on Feb 29 and Mar 1 in Swan River.
The Rossburn Lions Club annual festival from Feb 14 16 featured curling and basketball events, skater performances, and a carnival queen contest won by Tanya Shingoose. Prizes were awarded to top riders and dancers, with proceeds benefiting the figure skating club, CNIB and community projects.
Kevin Bray was elected president of the Rossburn and area chamber at a recent meeting. The new chamber replaces the Rossburn Merchants' Association and opens membership beyond merchants to farmers and local councils. An invitation was sent to the Waywayseecappo Band to join as organizers seek a unifying community lobby at government levels.
The R M of Rossburn council met with Henry Neufeld of NAC Services to review preliminary plans for a new administration building and exterior layouts. They agreed to buy Lot 31 Plan 555 N L T O in Rossburn for 2000 dollars plus about 1800 dollars in tax arrears, with solicitor to draft agreement and by law. Council authorized a 1982 Ford truck purchase for 10700 dollars, trading in a 1974 GMC van, cost shared with the Village of Rossburn and funds to come from the General Reserve. A TD financed Caterpillar 140G lease with option to purchase for one dollar at five years was authorized, with rate locking possible. A 130 foot pole replacement cost 258.52 dollars at SW 21-20-25W was approved. Diane Lawless and Bill er were added to the RRSP effective Jan 1. An agreement with Birtle Presbytery Youth Camp Committee was set for use of Rossman Lake Youth Camp each July through 1964.
