Local resident reports a California based prize scam claiming a prize worth over 65000 dollars. A second call from a supposed lawyer backed the scam. The impostors avoided specifics about the prize and demanded a cheque. Residents are urged to contact RCMP if similar calls occur.

Manitoba adopts reduced workweek to trim payroll

Manitoba government plans a reduced workweek in the next fiscal year to cut about four percent of the payroll without large job losses or service cuts. Essential services will run, with non essential offices closed one day weekly in July and additional days during Christmas. Crown corps may follow the measure.
