Grants total $100000 for Parklands communities
The Manitoba Community Places Program awards 100000 in grants to two non profits in Parklands. Rossburn and District Agri Rec Centre gets 75000 for construction while Turtle River Sports and Agriplex in Ste Rose receives 25000 for upper viewing and club room completion.

Magical Smoking Show at Rossburn School Delivers Health Message
Magician Steve Chmara performed his Magical Smoking Information Show at Rossburn Elementary on February 12 sponsored by the Manitoba Department of Health. He has toured Manitoba for seven years reaching grades 4 to 6 with entertaining non lecturing anti smoking education. After Rossburn he moved on to Shoal Lake and Waywayseecappo Community School.

Shoal Lake councillor pushes policing cost reform
Manitoba urban and rural municipalities form a Policing Task Force to seek equal per capita policing costs. Shoal Lake representative Mike Michalyshyn notes current costs 83 dollars per person for towns and 2.70 for rural areas. Task force aims for 5 dollars per capita for all, with phased increases. Federal funding cuts could raise local costs, affecting Shoal Lake and Birtle. Negotiations deadline March 31 with arbitration looming if needed.
