Inter-Faith Scout Week Service Draws Community Support
Sunday service at Rossburn Town Hall marked Cub Scout week with broad attendance. The gathering honored leaders and thanked Reverend Penny, Ron Hamilton, Mrs Willett, Mr Trakalo, Mr Plaisier for address, and welcomed newcomers Mr Plaisier and Mr Slade as Rossburn looks to an annual Inter-Faith observance.

Angusville Open Mixed Bonspiel Concludes With Prizes
The Angusville Open Mixed Bonspiel wrapped last Saturday night with notable results. Chuchmuch Bros earned Event winnings led by first Doug Joiner of Rossburn, followed by Bob Arron of Binscarth and Frank Keller of Russell in the top four. Peter Kostuik Memorial saw L. Gatzke of Rossburn take first with Mindy Goodmanson of Russell second and Peter Parabee of Angusville third. Wright Event crowned Tony Kiez of Russell first, Adam Sawaryn of Angus second, Wayne Carson of Rossburn third. Larry Chipilski of Angus took fourth.

Parkland Regional Development picks new officers in 1970 board
Parkland Regional Development Corporation elected its new five executive officers at the February 16 meeting in Dauphin. John Mitchell of Rossburn was named vice president, with Orville Minish of Swan River and John Mitchell serving as vice presidents. John Potoski of Dauphin is secretary and John Tycholis of Dauphin is treasurer.

Officers Named The Ukrainian Women’s Association Meeting
The Ukrainian Women’s Association of Rossburn named Lesia Ukrainka held its annual meeting on February 10, 1970 at Mrs. Harry Konyk’s home. Six members and two visitors attended. Officers for 1970 were President Mrs. Annie Strank Vice President Mrs. Ann Belbas Secretary Mrs. Harry Konyk. The meeting closed with a prayer and lunch was served by Mrs. Konyk.

Over 500 people attended the Rossburn Elementary Science Fair with 65 projects from Kindergarten through Grade 8. Winners across divisions included individuals and groups, with several projects advancing to the Western Manitoba Science Fair in Brandon on March 6 and 7.

Rossburn Village Council urges hard surfacing of Highway 45 to Oakburn
The Rossburn village council met February 17 with Mayor J W Cormack and five councillors. They adopted January financials, renewed RCMP policing agreement, and endorsed a petition to Minister Borowski requesting hard surfacing of Provincial Trunk No 45 from Rossburn to Oakburn about 13 miles. The council approved bills, a Centennial sign, dusk to dawn lighting at the lift station, and travel expenses for a health seminar. They set a March 17 meeting.
