Manitoba adopts new provincial logo and identity program
Premier Howard Pawley announces a Visual Identity Program replacing multiple logos with a single buffalo emblem and the word Manitoba in green. The new symbol, coordinated by the Office of the Queen's Printer, aims to save costs while appearing on advertising, stationery and public vehicles. The Manitoba Flag and Coat of Arms remain unchanged.

Rossburn Health Centre earns two year accreditation
The Rossburn District Health Centre has been awarded two years of accreditation by the Canadian Council on Hospital Accreditation after a October 1983 survey. The Board and staff, with community volunteers, undertook extensive review of documentation programs and care practices to meet quality standards. Administered by Morley Kostecky and A Stitt with D Caldwell as charge nurse, the centre will display the certificate as a mark of dedicated teamwork and value for taxpayers.

New Manager Opens Nick's Clothing and Footwear in Rossburn
On February 14 Stephen L. Uyboco became the new manager of Nick's Clothing and Footwear, taking over from Bill McCrossin. The Filipino-born 27 year old plans to expand offerings while keeping the name and phasing out liquor sales. He aims to serve men, women and children of all ages with an extended product line and liquor removal noted.

Westman Media Co operative aims to wire Rossburn Shoal Lake and Hamiota for cable within a year. Dave Smith says a trunk line will be installed by Manitoba Telephone System with drops run by Westman staff. Cancom American signals plus CKX CKY CKND will be available. access channel to host local programming and time. Monthly fee $10 with $25 installation.
