Mr and Mrs Walter Luhowy and Miss Loretta Hubert attended the wedding of Jos Hubert of Camp Shilo to Alice Marguerite Riley of Brandon with a reception at the Prince Edward Hotel. John W Smith joined Knox Shusts rink at Yorkton bonspiel, winning the T Eaton Company trophy and four chairs. Five Oakburn High School rinks competed at Sandy Lake bonspiel, led by Jerry Matiation, with Matiation winning first prize in the third event.

Oakburn Carnival Crowns Queen as Receipts Reach Six Hundred
The Oakburn Ice Carnival event on Friday February 9 featured costume judging skating races and a dance at Ukrainian National Home Hall. Carnival Queen Ca thie Ogloff was crowned with Marie Dutka and Elsie Maliation as princesses, after Miss Oral Kalynovich crowned the queen. Total receipts reached about 600 with 425 from Carnival Queen candidates and raffles and sundry items making up the rest. Music by Pete Lambs orchestra.

The Rapid City Reporter previously moved the gas engine to a back shed for reserve power if the electric motor failed. With no shed or engine then, the paper lacked power until Harry Drosdoski lent a gas engine to run the press and print the issue.

N Major’s rink, including Don Holmes, Alex Cleland and Bill Pokropany, defeated Holland, Syrachuk and Wilson but fell to Stewart, Dixon, Armstrong, a Stonewall rink, Banks and Huston. C Johannesson’s rink, with Billie Carson, Walter Armstrong and Don Stitt, beat Gould, Urban and McKay but lost to Korodie, Wise Bros, Rev McMillan, Cliff Hudson, Laudrum, Forsythe and Russell.
