Two Municipalities Join Parkland Library System
Parkland Regional Library expands to include Gladstone Town and Westbourne RM in 1984, bringing total members to 27 with about 40 000 residents. A downtown Gladstone branch serves citizens, a Parkland bookmobile visits Plumas on a four week cycle, and a Westbourne deposit station is created. Trustees cite efficiency and lower levies as reasons for joining and expect further requests for membership later this year. The system now operates eleven branches with the bookmobile serving twenty six smaller communities.

Game Farm moves to Erickson with grant aid
The Wild Kingdom Game Farm will relocate from Dauphin to 38 acres in Erickson by July. Mayor Henry Oshust says the village donates land and Destination Manitoba provides a 31500 grant to entice Larry Williamson’s zoo relocation, promising expansion, new species breeding, and seasonal jobs. Williamson notes the move grants far more pen space for his Siberian tiger, grizzly, and elk, with plans for a tropical house and ties to the Winnipeg zoo.
