Wm Shwaluk Elected President at NFU Local 525 Meeting

The NFU Local 525 annual meeting in Shoal Lake Ukrainian Hall on January 29 heard reports on the year and discussed cattle check off. Bill Shwaluk was re elected president with Doug Gamey as vice president and Arnold Layson Tony Riley Jack Pryzner George Telford and Nestor Drul as board members. John Muzylewski serves as temporary district director. Attendance was average and a luncheon followed.

Grassland Project Leads Farmers To Pasture Potential

The Russell and Area Live stock Improvement Association with Manitoba Agriculture develops a grass land project to test pasture profitability and cattle performance. An open meeting in Russell on February 15 1974 at 2 p.m. Ellis Hall invites local producers to join and form the organizing group and become contributors.

Rossburn Venturer Co. six month financial report September 73 to January 74

The Rossburn Venturer Co reports a six month financial summary with expenditures on uniforms equipment food and prizes totaling 542.19 and a current balance of 836.68. The note thanks local merchants supporters and volunteers who aided raffles bingo and odd jobs, with a continuation on page 8.

Rossburn Grade VIII Northern Excursion Fund Drive

The Rossburn Elementary Grade VIII class plans a May 25 to June 1 northern excursion visiting multiple communities to study habitat and life. about 35 students plus 4 chaperones expect to raise $1500 to $2000. As of Jan 28, 1974 they have $356.32 and fundraisers include a February 16 skate-a-thon and two novelty bingo games.

Pelly Trail School Division Meeting Highlights 1974

The Pelly Trail School Division held a regular meeting January 28, 1974. Topics included bus replacements, increased materials fees from 2 to 4 dollars, conference attendance for principals, approval of the 1974 budget, staffing discussions due to low kindergarten enrollment, a used bus purchase option, changes under the Family Allowances Act affecting attendance reporting, an insurance bid approval, and the resignation of library assistant Agnes Burgess. Next meeting set for February 11, 1974.

Chi mo Days Carnival Lights Rossburn March Event

The Rossburn Lions Club hosts Chi mo Days from March 1 to 3 with costume judging and races starting Friday at 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The hockey game features Rossburn Lina ment Team versus Oakburn Lina ment at 9:00 p.m. A Carnival Queen will be crowned between hockey periods.
