Parkland Recreation Conference Set for Dauphin
A Parkland Recreation Conference will be held on Saturday March 19 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Auditorium in Dauphin Manitoba. Municipal councillors recreation directors and community volunteers may attend with six half day workshops on topics including Who Pays for Recreation Liability and Insurance and Motivating People for Action. Village Council weighs Meech Lake accord impact
The Rossburn council meeting on Monday January 18 with Mayor Morley Kostecky present urged Manitoba to withdraw support for Meech Lake Accord citing potential domination by Ontario and Quebec in federal bodies. It approved 330 for Manitoba Association of Urban Municipalities dues and discussed funding for 30 000 color brochures. The group also set plans to review hockey nets safety, staff holiday sick leave and overtime, microphone system costs, pigeon concerns near the former Manco Plant, and provisional 1988 operating and capital budgets totaling 44 625 for General Government Services plus other line items.

Assault complaints prompt charges on Lizard Point Reserve
On January 22 two assault complaints on the Lizard Point Indian Reserve led to five people charged with assault. January 23 saw a hit and run in Rossburn under investigation. January 25 included an assault at a Rossburn residence and a non-fatal vehicle crash in the RM of Rossburn. Snowmobilers must obtain permission to travel on private property and be registered for the year.

Director decision delayed at Rossburn-Silver Creek District
The Rossburn-Silver Creek Recreation District remains without a director. Larry Chipelski, president, says applications are slow and a new director likely won’t be chosen before February 12. The district office is temporarily closed after former director Lorne Johnston resigned earlier.
