Harold Slow resigns as Rossburn Fire Chief
The Rossburn Village Council on December 10 1981 accepted with regret the resignation of Harold Slon as Fire Chief of the Rossburn Fire Department. They discussed fire protection modernization and phone needs and reviewed By laws 613 and 614 for grants and tax cancellations. A Community Welcoming Committee and an Arena Board were proposed with future meetings set.

Fire destroys Solsgirth grain elevator under construction
Fire at the Cargill Elevator in Solsgirth last Wednesday evening December 16 consumed the structure under construction since early summer. About thirty firefighters from Birtle Rossburn and Shoal Lake fought the blaze in minus 25 C, with little chance to save the building.

Postmaster vacancy returns to Rossburn after short tenure
George Semenek filled the Rossburn postmaster post after an earlier term in Roblin as an assistant. He simultaneously sought a Plant Supervisor job with Canada Post in Edmonton and learned he secured it. Until a permanent postmaster is hired, acting postmaster Ed Shust will lead the office.
