A special Sunday School Christmas Service will be held in the United Church on Sunday December 19. All members are urged to attend and bring a friend as well as their parents. Let’s see a capacity crowd.
In Rossburn town hall basement about seventy people welcomed Rev. Eugene Olynyk who arrived from a D P camp in Europe to serve the Ukrainian Catholic Parish of Tossburn. Speakers praised him and he spoke of wartime hardships and life in a displaced persons camp.
In this installment the church memorial to Sam Warnock appears and ministers from Selsgirth are named. The church closes due to funding issues and the first union Sunday School forms in 1882 with Methodists and Presbyterians sharing duties. Union dissolves in 1885, then separate Sunday Schools resume until 1916. Vista hosts early preaching in Joe Moulton’s house and a union Sunday School until Ashcroft’s arrival.
The Rossburn Review will print early next issue to reach subscribers away from home before Christmas. Those wishing greetings must contact by 10 p.m. Saturday December 1st. Ads for last minute Christmas shopping accepted until 12 p.m. Monday December 20th. No issue December 30th. First issue of the New Year January 6th. Office closed December 28th to 31st.
The school notes a moved Christmas concert to December 21 at 8 p.m. A weekly feature urges boys to back themselves, trust teammates, and uphold truth and progress. It reflects on failures as steps to victory, Christmas scenes, and a humorous reminder that a father works hard to pay holiday bills.
