Manitoba Minimum Wage Board recommends phased rise to 7

Labour minister Becky Barrett releases more than twenty recommendations from the Minimum Wage Board. Chair and equal employer and employee members proposed a $6.75 minimum by March 2002, rising to $7 by October 2002, with subminimums under 18 and tip considerations. Employee and employer groups offered alternate timelines and inclusions for agricultural workers. Barrett says the open review aims for an equitable solution for about 19 000 Manitobans.
