Ukrainian Catholic Women’s Bingo Draw Noted as Successful
The Ukrainian Catholic Women’s Association held a bingo night on Tuesday December 2. Prizes were donated by numerous local residents including Ed Shust Krym Baubie Glushka Hrysak Glushka Hrubeniuk Charney Ryshytylo Gluch Palmer Lepischak Zegalski Fiel Glushka Mackedenski Hullick Perchaluk Hryciuk Shust Ryshytylo Chomica and others. Winners include John Machyshyn Smycniuk Palmer Lepischak Glushka Wakefield Brown Ryshytylo and Chomica with various chicken duck towel and pillow case prizes.

Funeral Service For Walter Sherritt In Shoal Lake
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Shoal Lake on Wednesday December 3 1958 for Walter Sherritt of Regina who died after a brief illness at 72 years nine months. Born in Seeburn Manitoba he later farmed at Kelloe then served in World War I before settling in Regina. He married Anne Clayton in 1947 and is survived by his wife one stepson John two sisters Mrs Ida Bolton and Mrs Jane Shaw two brothers James and George. Remains laid to rest in the family plot in Shoal Lake conducted by Rev Backlin with Mrs Backlin singing The Old Rugged Cross. Pallbearers were Cliff Findlay George Ryder John Johnston David Sherritt Gordon Taylor and A McDonald.

Province Grants Assistance for Works Program
Rossburn Village Council sought funding under the Provincial Winter Employment project for demolition of the old school and renovations at the town hall. The project estimates $4,500 in wages, with 50 percent ($2,250) approved by the province, for workers who have exhausted unemployment benefits. Action will follow on completion date of the new school, originally set for January 1 1959. grant effective until April 30 1959.

Thanks to caretaker Mr Vernon Hamilton skaters enjoy ice all week with keen interest in intermediate and minor hockey. The rink opens at 7 15 on most Wednesdays and Saturdays with afternoon sessions Thursday and Saturday. Hockey practices run Tuesday and Thursday from 8 30 with minor hockey after 4. Rossburn intermediates opened the season as defending north central league champions with a 5 to 3 win at Elphinstone. The Rural Municipality of Rossburn held its regular session on Saturday December 6 with Reeve Ed Shust and all councillors present. Minutes from November were read and adopted and the financial report approved. By law passed to cancel certain taxes on community halls and to purchase nuisance grounds for Vista townsite from Les Hamilton. One old age assistance application approved. Hospital Service Plan premiums will be added to property taxes. Bills passed. Next meeting set for January 3.

Funeral Rites for Wasyl Zenchyshyn Held in Olha
Wasyl Zenchyshyn died at 70 after a short illness on November eighth in Shoal Lake Hospital. He lived in the Oakburn district before retiring there in April. Survived by wife Josephine, four sons Peter Mike John Ron and six daughters Jean Ann Sonja Sophie Elsie and Hilda. Funeral service conducted at Ukrainian Greek Catholic church in Olha with Rev. Lehky. pallbearers were six named men. Raginski Funeral Home oversaw arrangements.
