The Ladies group sends $20 in cigarettes to soldiers. Oakburn Skating rink committee plans to reopen soon. Mr. P. Hubert named janitor. A collision near Oakburn between two cars driven by V. Boychuk and M. Mye caused by two miles east of town with no serious injuries.
Rowat Veitch is home on furlough from Vancouver. A Red Cross quilting was held at Mrs. A. Joiner’s home with two quilts sewn. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Andrews returned from a holiday in Red Deer Alberta. Sigm Adam Crookshanks returned to Kingston Ontario after a week’s embarkation leave. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. John Plante on a daughter born at Sacred Heart Hospital Russell. Angus Grant of Winnipeg, formerly Ranchvale, has died after illness. his family reports he is better but still unable to move about.
The obituary notes Angus Grant aged 75 died Saturday November 28 in Winnipeg. He spent much of his life in the Ranchvale district and moved to Ozburn with his parents from Ontario. He leaves three sons Elmer Dean and Ray and a daughter Ila B Barron. Funeral at the United Church Rossburn today at 2 PM.
The Rossburn Red Cross branch held its annual meeting in the clubroom on Tuesday November 24. The financial statement for 1942 showed about 900 raised. Officers elected included President C R Dawson Vice President Dr Braunstein Sec Treasurer Barlow and committee members Beirnes Dawson Stitt and others. Mrs Dawson reported 387 knitted items and 394 sewing articles sent to headquarters. Helpers are needed. contact convenor Mrs Janeson. Christmas cards can be printed with names at the Review office for 25 cents a dozen.
