Radio celebrates a century since Marconi’s 1901 breakthrough
Fred McGuinness recalls the birth of radio on Signal Hill in 1901 and its spread across Canada. He notes early public access stations like 10AB in Moose Jaw, C4HS in Camrose, and the shift from large cabinet sets to radios in all rooms. The piece blends memory with reflections on radio’s role in education and democracy, ending with centennial wishes.
