Roseburn Pioneer Joseph Jackson Stitt dies at 83

Joseph Jackson Stitt a Roseburn pioneer born October 1861 in Stittsville passed away Wednesday last week. He arrived in Roseburn May 24 1879 after two years in Michigan and served as a transport officer in 85 Rebellion. Funeral at United Church with Loyal Orange Lodge attendance and Orange rites at Union Cemetery. Survived by widow seven sons and several daughters, with eighteen grandchildren.

Mrs. Jorgenson resumes principal duties at Islay School. A newly married couple, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young, wed last Tuesday. Community sympathy extended to T. Stitt and W. Stitt for bereavement. A fire at Harv ey Hamilton's home Monday was contained with minimal damage.
