Rossburn council reports grant payback adjustment and utility updates

Town CAO Leon ard Mackedenski says an additional 500.00 is forgiven to the Rossburn Playground Committee, reducing the payback to 1,800.00 from a 4,600.00 grant while acknowledging bench and receptacle projects and a donation to the Rossburn Youth Soccer Association. Council also discusses Lifelong Learning Drop-In Centre space, Westarc rural adaptation study, and reducing a 2000 water debt owed by the Rossburn Agricultural Society. They accept a water main project bid of 95,460.00 and approve removing two utility poles with a minor rehang.

Manitoba RCMP outlines impaired driving vehicle seizure rules

Manitoba has tightened vehicle seizure rules for impaired driving. New rules effective Dec 1 2000 set 30 day seizures for first-time seizures or BAC over 80 but up to 160 mg percent, 60 days for BAC over 160 or breath sample refusal, and longer seizures up to 360 days for repeat offences within five years, with lengths set by the Vehicle Impoundment Registry.

Harvest season safety urged for farm machinery on Manitoba roads

Transportation and Government Services Minister Steve Ashton urges motorists and farmers to be vigilant as more farm equipment travels provincial highways this harvest. The safety rules require reflectors flags or lighting on tractors and self propelled machines. night travel mandates headlamps tail lamps and rear reflectors. Ashton says highway safety is a shared duty to prevent accidents during long harvest hours.
