Organizer Shirley Kalyniuk hails the week of celebrations as a success for Rossburn’s 75th year. About 750 attended the evening banquet despite a power outage that paused the ethnic dance in darkness. The parade and town breakfasts drew strong crowds, and Shawna Sytnyk was crowned Rodeo Queen.
Hundreds gathered at Rossburn Arena for a reunion of students from 1913 to 1966 as part of the community’s 75th anniversary celebrations. Old classmates shared memories, including stories of Cris Robinson and a playful escape from an Indian reserve.
Temperatures jumped to 38 C on Saturday then dropped to 3.2 C Sunday morning in the Brandon area. The week brings sunny dry days with temperatures rising to the mid-20s, steady winds, and minimal precipitation.
