More than 3300 Manitoba wheat producers at public Federation of Agriculture meetings endorsed the International Wheat Agreement and urged higher price floors. They want Government action to curb costs and to separate Canadian wheat pricing from IWA levels, aiming for parity and inflation relief amid foot and mouth disease concerns.

Mrs Harold Brown remains a patient in Shoal Lake Hospital and well wishes are sent for a speedy recovery. Sunday School starts at 10 30 am on May 4 with a church service at 11 am. A dance featuring Danc McIntyre's orchestra drew a fair crowd last Friday and another is planned for May 16. Several visitors from Winnipeg Russell Brandon and Rapid City spent time in the Vista district.

A social evening in Shoal Lake honored Agricultural Representative D L Fletcher and his wife as they prepare to move to Carman Manitoba. Local clubs offered greetings and gifts while Fletcher reflected on seven years developing boys and girls work. A drifted lunch closed the event.

Mail service by truck replaces train deliveries

Effective today mail on the Neepawa Russell line of the C N R will be delivered to post offices by truck due to the cancellation of the Wednesday and Thursday trains. Reports indicate mail will be received and dispatched to coincide with the cancelled train service. Further information will be published when available.

The couple plans to reside in Birtle after a Winnipeg honeymoon. Bernice Isabelle Brown wed Charles William Hay at Christ Anglican Church Stony Mountain on April 12 with Rev. H. G. Walker officiating. The couple will live in Esterhazy Saskatchewan after a reception at the bride’s home.

Mystery Bells Revealed as Sears Cow Bells from 1902

Orr Minnesota resident Nick Carter reports a 1902 Sears Roebuck catalogue lists the so called mystery bells as Swiss cow bells priced 33 cents to 1.44 dollars. The bells, found across rural border areas, were used on livestock and distributed widely including reports from Louisiana and Oregon.

Veteran trappers banded duck caught on Waywayseecappo Reserve

Alex Clearsky, longtime muskrat trapper, reports catching a banded duck on April 24 at the Waywayseecappo Indian Reserve. He recalls a banded duck caught twenty years ago in a muskrat trap and notes the last duck was provided by the Washington Wildlife Service, No. 496-18465.
