On behalf of the Village Council I again call attention to deplorable conditions at the Nuisance Grounds. Residents are urged to burn garbage and respect others property. A locked gate will be installed with limited weekly openings supervised by Doug Joiner.
Sympathy is extended to the Pylypin family on the passing of their 15 month old son Karl. Tony Kalynowich is mourned by Mrs. Mary Kalynowich and family. Week-end visitors included Sonia of Winnipeg Allan of Erickson and Dennis of Thompson. Marlene Tutkaluk of Winnipeg visited the Tutkaluk home. Mike Michalyshyn spent several days in Winnipeg on business.
The Angusville Community Centre announces there will be no more Jackpot Bingos until fall. Mrs. Goldie Forrest visited with Miss Winona Wotton of Birtle and Mrs. Hiely Caldwell a patient in Birtle Hospital. Speedy recovery wishes go to Mrs. Caldwell from friends in Angusville. Lawrence Paro and family spent Easter at the home of Lu howy in Oakburn. Joe Juba and family spent Ukrainian Easter at Yanick’s in Oakburn.
Winners of hockey pools during the past week were Vic Matusko Tom Warburton and Bill Pasosky. Proceeds go to the Rossman Golf Club.
The Neepawa Lions Band will entertain at a band concert on Sunday May 18 at 7 p m at Rossman Lake. The Neepawa Band is brought here under the Rossburn Lions Club auspices.
Baseball coaches are needed for Minor Baseball teams. If you are interested in helping with coaching a team please contact Adolph Verbowski.
Vernon residents Frank Laur ie and Noell Steel visit Mr and Mrs Wm Halliday. Mrs T Martin of Glenella spent the weekend with her mother Mrs Halliday in hospital. Margaret Young of Hamiota visited her mother and Linda. Stan Gallant of Winnipeg stayed with Mr and Mrs A Kostesky. Leonard Mackedenski of Winnipeg was home for the weekend. Mr and Mrs L Mackedenski and daughters of Erickson visited M Mackedenski. WGH Hospital patient Wasyl Hrysak making a speedy recovery.
Congratulations to Mrs. Mike Tanasychuk for winning the electric floor polisher and to all other winners at Elizabeth's Cooking School. Special thanks to Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary for door duty and lunch service. Sponsoring the school was the local Marshall Wells Store.
Strathclair won hosting rights for the 1969 Midwestern Minor Baseball League play-offs on July 7. The league includes ages 10 to 17 with about seventy teams entering and around thirty in playoffs. Entry deadline is midnight May 4 with play starting May 15. contact M Dunn at 365-2514.
The Rossburn branch of the Canadian Red Cross Society completed a local canvass and sent $458.00 to Red Cross Headquarters. Thanks are offered to contributors and to solicitors Wm. Stitt, Wm. Mitchell, John Plant, Mike Lepischak, Ed Berney, Jim Smith, Harold Brown, and Otto Elvers.
The Rossburn Circle and Square Dance Club held its final session of the season on April 18 with forty five guests from Binscorth Russell St. Lazare Poplar Point and Winnipeg. The evening featured square and round dancing followed by a smorgasbord supper. Organizers thank caller Tom Warburton for patient instructions and hope for new members next year.
A lyrical verse celebrates spring arriving on the ridges and Parklands. Birdsong returns with robins and geese as fields green, misty evenings settle over Riding Hills and Riding Mountain. Nature’s renewal is described through birds, waters, and blooming flora.
