Vista Community Centre Hosts Second Annual Art Exhibit
The Vista center held its second annual art exhibit on April 5 with 66 entries across drawings paintings photography woodcarving and fibre arts. Winners include Peggy Baker Birtle in drawing Dianne Clowes Rossburn in painting Kathleen Michalchuk Winnipeg in photography and John Chalmers Vista in woodcarving with multiple Rossburn winners in fibre arts and a junior section.

Seat belt survivors' club reaches 200 members in Manitoba
Sabrina Harris of St Andrews becomes the 200th member of the Seat Belt Survivors' Club after surviving a January 5 1987 three car Winnipeg crash. She received her certificate from Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation minister John Bucklaschuk, who credited seat belts with saving lives.

New Operation Lifesaver Signs Unveiled in Portage la Prairie
Manitoba officials unveiled new red and white reflective railway crossing signs in Portage la Prairie as part of Operation Lifesaver. The program aims to boost nationwide rail safety with more than 27 000 signs planned across Canada by 1988. The Manitoba Safety Council is named sponsor and will fund education programs to enhance safety awareness.
