Weight restrictions enforced on Riding Mountain highways

Weight limits of 6107 pounds or 2735 kilograms gross vehicle weight apply on Highway 19 within Riding Mountain National Park until June 30. On the Riding Mountain Parkway, May 5 start, 60 kg per 10 mm width per axle applies until June 30. Exemptions for buses, essential goods, and overweight front axles for empty semi-trailers. Oakburn school extension debated by Pelly Trail board

Pelly Trail School Division trustees met March 17 with full attendance to discuss Oakburn elementary school closure. They extended the review for one year to June 1998, reviewed budget proposals, staff levels, and a 1.3 mill local tax increase to cover a $120,751 shortfall, and approved several staffing and renovation resolutions.
