The Rossburn Women’s Institute held its annual meeting on April 4 at 2 30 p m in the Annex. Creeds were read, funds acknowledged from March of Dimes and Arthritis Society, and the piano sold to the UCF W for 75 dollars. The local convention is slated for May 3 1972 at Makaroff with Mrs Mcintosh as delegate.

A regional square dance gathering saw 110 dancers from Newdale Gilbert Plains Grandview Binscarth Neepawa Gladstone Shilo Wapella and Tantallon Sask attend a jam. March events included Binscarth jamboree and a Neepawa banner retrieval. Participants earned a Police Escort Badge and joined a jail cell dance with an RCMP escort.

Rossburn switches to 7 digit dialing as Manitoba Telephone System completes automation. A 300 plus crowd at the Town Hall learned dialing is now by the subscriber with 859 as the first three digits. Operators transition to new roles. some will move to other MT S sites while former staff are thanked for decades of service.

Re-Act Committee Meeting Held Monday
The Re-Act Committee serving Rossburn and Angusville met at the Rossburn Municipal Office with good attendance. Bruce Danyluk from Dauphin spoke on assisting with Parkland Region reports for a three month term. Sub-committee chairmen were named for Agriculture Education Industrial Development Recreation Social Environment Youth Development. The Youth Committee plans an essay contest with cash prizes. details to follow. Next meeting will be in Angusville.
