Parkway Co-op stores undergo major face lift
Parkway Co-op headed by general manager Larry Mills begins extensive renovations at the Parkway Co-op grocery in headarh. Upgrades include new produce dairy meats and frozen food coolers, extra freezer space, a walk in cooler, a back warehouse revamp and product realignment. Renovations follow last year’s Park way Co op Hardware and Convenience Store update in Rossburn with further plans in Roblin. Operations will run six days a week from Monday to Saturday.

Elphinstone incident ends peacefully after standoff
RCMP responded to a March 28 standoff near Highway 45 as an adult male barricaded inside a residence with a 303 and a 22 calibre rifle. After negotiations, reinforcements arrived from Rossburn and Minnedosa with a Gladstone hostage negotiator. The man was arrested around 1:17 a.m. with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace. no shots were fired and the family fled unharmed.

Manitoba MTS Lets Nearby Towns Get Cable Through New Contract
The Manitoba Telephone System signs a landmark agreement with Westman Cable and Wiparlesisteme allowing 59 Manitoba towns to receive TV cable. Construction starts soon with early fall service to Newdale Minsota Inglis and Rapid City and mid July for Strathclair Sandy Lake and Binscorth. Monthly fees run under 30 dollars with installation around 60 dollars.
