Flin Flon mine becomes Manitoba Hydro customer in 1981

Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Co. Limited at Flin Flon joined Manitoba Hydro on April 1 1981 as a major new load. The Island Falls 92 MW plant, previously owned by Churchill River Power Company, was acquired when Saskatchewan Power took ownership of Island Falls after the water license expired. Manitoba Hydro will import generation from Island Falls and wheel it into Saskatchewan via three Manitoba Saskatchewan interconnections.

Dauphin barberal moves south to Erickson Clipper opens salon

Alvin Clipper Cole ends his 160 year in Dauphin barbering and opens Clipper’s Barbershop and Beauty Salon in Erickson on April 6 after purchasing a hair dressing facility on April 1. He will cut hair weekdays and a dresser will work Tuesdays to Saturdays in the new location.
