First Nations Ombudsman bill defeated in Liberal vote
Native Ombudsman opposed as Liberal led coalition defeats Myron Thompson's Bill C-222 168 to 57. The proposal would have created an ombudsman to handle disputes involving First Nations and improve accountability for administration and communications. Several Liberal Manitoba MPs and Manitoba NDP members voted against.
