Public Meeting Honors Mrs. Plante in Rossburn Club Room
A farewell gathering on Monday March 28 in Rossburn honored Mrs. F Plante with music and a stunt contest. Participants included Mrs. Jack Stitt, Leona Hutton, Shirley Stitt, Mrs. James Sherritt, Perne Strong, Margaret Taylor and Mrs Sterlings Veitch. Mrs. Plante won a prize and will reside at Reserve Sask. A Rossburn Memorial Sport Arena public meeting is set for Tuesday April 12 at 8 30 p m in the Town Hall with a call for full attendance and support.

Pretty Wedding Solemnized At New Westminster
A candie lite ceremony at the bride’s parents home on March 19 united Yvonne Phyllis Grant and Nellis Franz Hanson in marriage with Rev. Hodgkins officiating. The gown was ivory corded taffeta with lily point sleeves and a shoulder length veil. Bridesmaids were Sharon Grant and Gail Grant. Gary Grant attended. Out of town guests came from Winnipeg Victoria Seattle and Rossburn as the couple planned to reside in Winnipeg after a wedding trip to Victoria.

Manitoba Red Cross Remittance Boosts Province Lead
The Rossburn branch of the Canadian Red Cross sends $625.00 to headquarters, praising Manitoba for leading in quota percentage and surpassing last year’s results. Proceeds from the Bonspiel and lunches add $78.30, bringing the campaign total to $575.50 to date.

Poultry Expert William Martin Dies at 86 in Shoal Lake
William Bradely Martin, 86, a director of the Manitoba Dairy and Poultry Marketing association and Shoal Lake Agricultural Society leader, died Saturday at his Shoal Lake residence. He opened Shoal Lake’s first egg grading station and served Westminster United Church as elder and Sunday school worker. He came west in 1881 from Edgecombe Ontario and is survived by seven daughters, two sons, 23 grandchildren, and a great grandchild. Funeral Monday at Westminster with graveside rites by Shoal Lake Masonic lodge.
