Province to withhold licences for unpaid fines across Manitoba
Manitoba will withhold drivers licences from offenders with overdue fines and restitution starting with June renewals. Attorney General Gord Mackintosh said the move will ensure payment of 26 million dollars in unpaid fines and 3.1 million in restitution, with enforcement expanding beyond existing wage garnishments and asset seizures. Beginning April 1 the law is proclaimed, but renewals start June to give debtors a chance to pay.
