In Rosetown district a call goes out for 250 men for service. The message notes prior pledge and urges immediate enlistment with reference to the 232nd unit and related duty. The fragment hints at a wartime recruitment effort and collective obligation.
The Methodist Church anniversary services featured Rev C W Brown from Saskatoon delivering a morning message on righteousness and a evening address on the Cost of Liberty. A Sunday supper for about 175 followed the service and Monday included Mr Brown’s talk on the Rise and Fall of the Athenian Republic. The event raised over eighty dollars at the doors.
Olive Hare daughter of Mr and Mrs C B Hare of 156 Geneve street married Lieut Fred Gregory of the 176th Battalion C E F at St Georges church St Catharines officiated by Rev Broughall on April 26 The bride wore sand colored poplin and a shower bouquet The groom was supported by Lieut Thornton Taylor with ushers Allan Sylvester and W A Bell The Gregory family faces a military connected background with relations serving overseas and in France The couple left by 5 20 p m train for Toronto and other points
The McGee Celebration Mellee organizes a May 24 Victoria Day festival featuring baseball football horse races and athletic events. Meals and refreshments are arranged for attendees while a big evening dance promises top music. Grounds admission is 25 cents.
The St Andrew's Patriotic League will meet at the home of Mr R W Segrave on Thursday May 18 at 2 p m to continue Red Cross aid efforts. Members are urged to attend as work and materials are available for a busy afternoon and another parcel will be sent soon. Receipts from the Sask branch acknowledge donations of fifty dollars and surgical supplies.
Rev H MCCULLOCH conducts Sehvol service at 11 a.m. followed by Sunday School and Bible Classes. An gly Hall service at 2:30 p.m. with Sunday School and Bible Classes. Klosetown hosts Sunday School and Young Peoples Bible Classes at 11 a.m. Evening service at 7 p.m. choir practice Thursday 7:30 p.m.
