Eric Kierna says higher rates on Christmas cards and third class mail will lift post office revenue by about 17 million for the rest of this year and 35 million for a full year, assuming mail volume remains similar to prior years.
A Manitoba Crop Insurance Corporation report shows many farmers in hard-hit Red River Valley areas choosing higher coverage for wheat, oats, and barley. Since 1960 the program has paid $5.8 million in indemnities, with 60 to 80 percent yield coverage now common, and 70 percent in some areas.
Rainy conditions push Manitoba livestock producers to consider swathed grain silage as an alternative to direct combining. Profits depend on moisture 60 65 percent, 1 inch cut length, and a tight pack in horizontal or upright silos with proper sealing and water addition if needed.

Best man James McClelland led the bridal party. attendants were Hugh Helgason and Alan Giles with ushers Don Helgason and William Giles. Reception at Sacred Heart Auditorium. The couple toured Kenora and Fort Frances before returning via Delluth Bemidji and Grand Forks.
