A twenty foot deep well opened suddenly beneath the wash line behind Mrs. Donald Kelso’s home. The earth gave way while no one stood on the surface, leaving a safe but startling crater. Likely an old partially filled well caused by years of rain and soil settling.
An Avro Anson bomber made a forced overnight landing about two miles from Roblin. The craft blew a tire and veered into a ditch after circling the town and dropping flares. Four crew members escaped uninjured as townspeople gathered and authorities urged caution with the aircraft.
The headline film tells of life under Nazi oppression. Prince Kurt Rotenburg evades Gestapo across European capitals until a liner bound for America joins him with sinister figures and encounters Marta Keller in Vienna amid Strauss music and a Paris style cafe vibe.
Roblin council meets with Mayor Newton presiding and members present. Minutes from August 5 are adopted. Accounts passed include Municipal Dauphin Land Titles Office 6.25, G Barber 25.00, Beaver Lumber 7.80, Northern Petroleum 11.70, and Mrs Brown 52.00 among others. Voter’s List for 1942 compiled by the Assessor is adopted.
