Stiffer penalties for illegal hunting and fishing in Manitoba
The Fisheries and Wildlife Amendment Act imposes higher penalties and restitution for illegal wildlife takes, doubling fines in conservation closures for big game and setting a $1,008 restitution for illegally taking a master angler lake sturgeon. Restitution funds support wildlife management and conservation. Aboriginal rights are exempt. Officials from the Manitoba Wildlife Federation and related groups welcome the changes as part of TomorrowNew Manitoba's Green Plan.
