Mro and Mrs Ges Harvey of Winniper spent the long weekend at the home of Mr and Mrs Alec Taylor. Taey returned to the city Monday accompanied by Mrs Tayler.
Miss Vevonne Ver Wlighen of Fuin Fion is appointed as teacher at Silverwood School. Mr and Mrs Walter Redman of Yorkton spent the long weekend at the home of Mr and Mrs Jim Irvine and family.
Miss Yvonne Ver Wighen spent the weekend with her sister. The Irvine and Lawren ce families from Dauphin visited Mr and Mrs Albert Johnson. Ed Priest hosted Roblin clergyman Alex Henderson at Reg Mortemore’s home. Lee Belton from Winnipeg and Mrs Burnett’s family joined at Bit Burnett’s, while Mrs Waller McGinnis and Yvonne of The Pas visited Earl McGinnis and friends.
Mrs Koherst of Edge Water BC visits her mother Mrs Enge. Geraldine Topham and Vivian Traub of Regina visit. Mrs Rae Smith of Regina visits with her parents Mr and Mrs Jim Gawhey. Mr and Mrs FE Andrews of Regina call on Mr and Mrs Tip Anders. Miss McLeod leaves for The Pas and Flin Flon after month here. Richard Staub heads to Quebec for RC AF posting. Mr and Mrs D G Richardson of Winnipeg visit Mrs Sam Hampson over the weekend. Miss Meride Smith departs to Regina. Rev and Mrs Abs celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Mrs Gunnes drives to Virden.
Grand Narrows residents Mr and Mrs H Garland and Elynne return to Ottawa after a holiday with Mrs Middleton and kin. Mr and Mrs O Wilson and their family spent the weekend at The Pas. Guests from Beachville Ontario and St Marys Ontario visited relatives here. Miss Kay Radford spends a week with her Roblin grandmother.
Imperial Oil Ltd establishes a humanities fellowship of 1250 dollars per year open to Canadian university graduates for up to three years at any recognized university. It expands the company program to five fellowships yearly, with the other four focused on social and physical sciences. Beginning next year, summer studies will receive a 750 dollar supplementary award.
Miss Ethel Bangle writes exams in Roblin. Fay Howie arrives to lead Grand Narrows School and will reside at J Nabe's. Zette Brown visits Mr and Mrs J Nabe last weekend. Mrs Linderbeck returns to visit her daughter Mrs C Burrell and son Ed Linderbeck.
The annual value of each fellowship is set at $2000. Winners this year include Kurt Jonassohn of Montreal John E Hogg of Toronto William J. King of London Ontario and George B Mellon of Edmonton. Selections were made by a committee from the National Conference of Canadian Universities and Imperial.
Date book item notes a Friday dance at Wilf Ward’s barn one mile north and two miles east of Roblin with admission one dollar and lunch included. Sponsored by the Shell River W.I. Plains men provide music for the event.

A Red Cross executive meeting will be held in the Village council chambers Reblin on Wednesday September 14 at 8 p m sharp.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Canadian Legion B E L will hold a regular meeting in the Legion Club Rooms on Tuesday September 13 at 8 p.m. A lunch committee comprising Mrs Freeland Mrs Hanson and Mrs Hutchison will be in charge.
Manitoba oil wells produced a record 396.00l barrels of crude in July pushing cumulative production toward five million. Average daily output was 12 774 barrels, double July 1934, up 1 600 from June. Four hundred six wells produced, 485 capable by month end, with twenty nine new wells added.
