Ford uses wheat straw reinforced plastic in 2010 Ford Flex
Ford Motor Company teams with University of Waterloo and A Schulman to create a 20 percent wheat straw reinforced plastic. The eco friendly material reduces petroleum use by about 20 000 pounds per year and CO2 emissions by about 30 000 pounds annually. The third row storage bins in the 2010 Ford Flex test the product. If successful, expansion to center console bins trays armrest liners and more could follow.
