Memorial form debate and public works in Canada
The Scarttisn sculptor Pilkington Jackson argues that true memorials should be great works of art like statues or arches rather than functional facilities such as halls pools or rinks which lose significance with time. He says communities should build needed facilities for public use and reserve memorials for lasting art. The piece also covers concerns about American investment in Canada, weather musings, and US draft exemptions for married men, framing them in a prairie newspaper voice.
